You might have heard of biolight treatment used in facial and skin care but did you know that biolight treatment is also beneficial in hair and scalp care?
What is Biolight Treatment?
Biolight treatment has been used as early as the 1950s. It is also commonly referred as cold laser or low level laser therapy (LLLT) as it is non-invasive and produces no heat.
It uses an array of light emitting diodes (LEDs) to deliver different wavelengths of low level light energy onto the scalp stimulating the cells in a painless and relaxing process.
The light energy triggers and stimulates the cells, improving blood circulation and increasing collagen & elastin production and cellular metabolism. The improved blood circulation is vital for healthy hair follicles. Biolight treatment provides cells the optimum conditions, facilitating the healing of cells and promoting healthy cells growth.
History & Studies of Biolight
NASA has developed and adopted light therapy in their missions to speed up healing of wounds and scars, significantly improving medical care for their astronauts. Through its studies, light therapy using a spectrum of light directed at cells has been found to stimulate and improve the healing and regenerative process of damaged cells.
In 2002, at the 4th Annual Meeting of the Japan Light Therapy Association, studies have also shown a success in the increase of both hair growth and the density of the hair follicles in areas that were treated with light therapy.
Different Wavelengths of Biolight
Biolight therapy has been used mainly in facial and skin care to treat fine line wrinkles, acnes and scars and also to improve the complexion & glowing radiance of the skin.
There are many varying wavelengths and colours of biolight therapy, each different colours are used for different treatments and results.
Red Biolight stimulates the cells, improves metabolism, accelerate blood circulation and increase collagen proteins. It also helps to improve the elasticity, triggers cell repair mechanisms and enhances cell growth.
Blue Biolight helps to restrain and manage inflammation and also assist in cell regenerative process through improving both the lymph and blood circulatory system. It is used commonly to treat scalp redness and irritation due to its detoxifying properties.
Yellow Biolight has purifying and antibacterial properties that can help to reduce the amount of excess fluid in the skin and improves complexion while managing acne growth on sensitive skin.
Purple Biolight is a combination of red and blue wavelengths that improves cell activity and improve the healing of damaged cells.
Biolight treatment in hair & scalp care is commonly used to treat different hair problems such as hair loss. Optimum results are usually achieved in six treatments, 1 to 2 weeks apart, followed by a maintenance followup every month or two with each treatment lasting about 10 - 20 minutes.
